Hands on cooking classes April-June 2010

At MOM CAN COOK we are trying our best to support a HEALTHY and ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY approach by NOT DEEP FRYING THE FOOD, NOT USING PALM OIL and creating WELL BALANCED HOME MADE FOOD cooked with love by MOM for her family.


 Cooking Class fees. (This does not include costs of your food shopping for you to cook and take home). We will go shopping together; some people might have different shopping quantities.

Costs are per person, per class

Rp. 500.000 for one to two persons in the class.

Rp. 350.000 for three to six persons in the class.

You can choose your own schedule and create your own group if you wish for morning class

( 9 am to 12.30 pm) or afternoon class ( 2 to 5 pm).

H – for HONEY


Honey Corn Flakes Balls

This is a trick to get your children to eat cornflakes. You can serve this in the morning for a quick breakfast or let them take this for school snacks. Keep in refrigerator to maintain freshness.

Honey Glazed Drumsticks

Very easy meal to cook and to please the little tummy. You can serve this with steamed rice or with french fries or mashed potatoes. This is also nice to take for school lunch.


I – for INDONESIAN SPECIALS

Chicken in coconut lime marinade

This is modification from Indonesian Ayam Panggang. The way we will make it in the class is more simple and easy.


Non spicy chili prawn

Almost all Indonesians know Udang Goreng Balado. For our little ones, this time we will make it not spicy and we will not deep fry the prawns. This is a healthier way of enjoying Udang Balado.


J – for JELLY

Jolly Jellies

Introduce dessert for your children at an early stage are not a bad idea. Sometimes you can use desserts as a trick to make them finish their main meals. Children love desserts. This dessert uses fresh fruit. So, this is a good way to make them eat fruit.

Traffic Light Sundaes

Another variation of Jelly. This time we will show off the fruits with the traffic light colours jelly. You can add ice cream for the thrill!

K – for KEBABS

Mini Chicken Kebab

Kebab is like satay. This chicken kebab is very easy to prepare. You can add vegetables like carrot or sweet potato in between. Use mini skewers to make it look cute and inviting for your children.

Fruit kebab with Chocolate Dipping

Another good way to make our children eat fruit. This simple fruit dessert is so yummy when dipped into chocolate dipping. Use attractive toothpicks to make a little fruit kebab.

L – for LAMB

Lamb Curry

This lamb curry is designed for children. It does not use coconut milk but uses evaporated milk instead. Serve Lamb Curry with Plain Yellow Rice, if your child likes raisins, we can add raisins to the rice. Yum!

Potato Lamb Pie

Make this pie and freeze it for different occasions. Use individual aluminum small pie dishes, they can eat between meals or take it as a school lunch.

M – for MINCED MEAT


Minced Chicken Patties

Very good for school snack or lunch. You can ‘hide’ vegetables and cheese inside to make it more nutritious.

Beef Balls with Teriyaki Gravy

Most children love a little sweet taste in their food. Teriyaki sauce is not so sweet like Sweet Soy Sauce, for sure it’s lighter. These beef balls can be serve with Rice or Sauteed Potato with herbs.

N – for NUTS

Nutty Corn Fritters

This is a good snack. Although we fry it, it’s not deep frying. The combination of corn and peanuts creates an interesting taste which is a little bit different from the usual corn fritters we know. Please be aware if your children are allergic to nuts.

Pea NUT sauce with beef satay

Lets do peanut sauce a ‘kiddy ‘ way. Simple, tasty and delicious. We can eat the sauce with beef satay or chicken satay.
